 Founder - Deborah Tate     

Deborah Thornhill Tate aka Deborah Tate is the Founder, Visionary of the  International Legacy Association Inc. (I.L.A.). in USA. She is a dedicated  leader with over 30 years of collective experience in Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Financial industry, and Community outreach.  Deborah Thornhill Tate was the founder, Director of Living Springs Academy in 1997 in Barbados and then U.S.A. from 2003. Some of those she mentored from children in Living Springs Academy have joined her after two decades in the I.L.A. leadership team and thus fulfilling the vision of legacy building and community development. Deborah founded the International Legacy Associations out of compassion and desire to continue to help families, give hope and support in times of hardship, and to be a proactive source of help to communities.

Sharla is the Chairman of the Board for the International Legacy Association with  headquarters in Florida USAHer extensive experience in management, coaching, customer service as well as her communications and public relations skills has made her qualified to effectively manage the ILA Board. As the Chair of the ILA Board, she presides at Board and Executive Committee meetings to ensure the Board’s directives, policies, and resolutions are carried out.  Sharla is very purpose driven and passionate about helping people and having programs with assistance for families and communities.  She works alongside the CEO and CCO in being an ambassador to promote the ILA overall mission, plans, events, funding, communicating with public and developing donor relations. Her role is at the core of the ILA vision in meeting needs, being a beacon of hope and an Ambassador for the ILA mission.

Alvin Jemmott is the ILA Vice Chairman who believes that family values  can  overcome adversity and loves teamwork as well as giving back to the  community. He is an author and CEO of Jemmott Hotel Management, Inc. and has been a General Manager of Barbados resort hotels to improve financial performance. He was appointed the first Chairman of the Board of Directors of Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc.  Alvin Jemmott was the former President of the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association, and a past Director on the Board at the Barbados Tourism Authority. He holds a Master of Science Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management and is a member of the International Management Center Association. Alvin works closely with the ILA Chairman to be a liaison between the Board and the CEO to help ensure the Board’s directives and resolutions are carried out.  He plays a leading role in developing fundraising ideas, advising, and mentoring the ILA staff and serving on the Public Relations team.

 

Secretary to the Board - Lisa Shaw

Lisa is the ILA Secretary to the Board who ensures that Board meetings  are effectively organized and maintains official records of all Board    meetings  as well as Executive and staff meetings including Board meeting minutes. Lisa is an author and has worked in the financial industry for several years with experience in customer service, management, financing, health care, and business development with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Lisa currently works alongside Program Director to coordinate community outreach to the homeless and families in need.

 

Member of the Board of Directors and Advisor - Allison Padmore -Haynes  

Allison Padmore-Haynes has 20 years of military service with the US army  and in the Dental Field in USA, Germany, and Belgium. She retired from the US Army at Ft Lewis in Washington state. Allison is originally from Trinidad and Tobago and serves as a leader in the Caribbean Community Association, Inc. Allison has held roles in Non-profit organizations as President, Vice President, Hospitality/Entertainment Chair as well as Disaster, Health, and Education Committees in Florida USA. Allison is not only an Advisor on the ILA Board but serves on Events and Public Relations team. She works alongside the Secretary of the Board to organize fundraising events and to help develop a steady flow of funds to help families.

 

General Board Member – Phillip Taylor   

Phillip Taylor is Board member an Anesthesiologist assistant by profession  and  currently manages his own Home Maintenance business. Phillip is  also  a musician and received leadership training, mentoring, and community outreach experience from the Living Springs Arts and Leadership Academy. His managerial and organizational experience, as well as his desire to help families in need has made him a motivated Ambassador for ILA mission and to oversee marketing and works with the C.O.O. to develop the marketing strategy and promoting events.

 

 In House Speaker - Candice Engelmann Brase      

Candace is a registered Nurse and studied BS Nursing at the University of Texas in Austin. She previously assisted in training and serving as a volunteer in community outreach with the Living Springs Arts and Leadership Academy under Mentor/Director Deborah Tate. Candace is excited to once again team up to fulfill the rest of the vision under the International Legacy Association.  She has a heart of compassion and is a natural leader excited to utilize her health and wellness knowledge to be an in-house Speaker for the I.L.A personal development and webinars.

Chief Executive Officer & Executive Committee Officer - Deborah Tate

Deborah has strong leadership and mentoring experience and holds  distinctions and certificates in Advanced Family Life Education and Counseling, International Radio Broadcasting and Communications, Management and Event Planning. She has founded Businesses, developed Leadership Academies, and served in Management for Non-profit Organizations both in The USA and in the Caribbean. She has coordinated fund raising for charities, churches, and schools and has travelled internationally as a Community Leader and speaker in the Caribbean, Europe, Texas, and Florida U.S.A. She is the ILA Program Director responsible for the implementation, development, and execution of the ILA projects to focus on families in hardship, community outreach and Humanitarian Youth Legacy program.  She provides management and evaluations on programs, community outreach and trains staff and volunteers. Deborah Tate has integrated her compassion, training, community outreach experience and Management skills to effectively manage the International Legacy Association organization staff, and Executive Committee in carrying the ILA vision and is truly an ambassador for the I.L.A. mission.

 

Chief Operations Officer and Executive Committee Officer - Delvin Legall

Delvin is the Chief Operations Officer who assists the CEO. Delvin has  evaluation, interpersonal communication, and strong leadership skills and is an experienced Industrial Arts Teacher with an Associate Degree in Building and Civil Engineering and a demonstrated history of working successfully in the education Industry. He is a business owner and is skilled in sales, marketing, public speaking, management, communications, and information technology. He oversees the administrative and marketing department. He is responsible for brand management by developing the marketing strategy and developing social media presence. Delvin has a very positive attitude and loves volunteering for community groups, analyzing tasks and giving new ideas.

Gail is a certified Diploma Teachers Level 1 and has a Diploma in Social Services, Early Childhood Care and Management. Gail is currently a Youth Development Counselor and has been a direct Care Counselor.  Gail has training and experience in  administration, vocational and social work, development, planning,  evaluating needs and use of community resources. She is very purpose driven and passionate about getting assistance for families. As Administrator, she supports strategic planning through research, creating budgets, financial forecasting, and evaluating. Gail secures funding for programs, handling correspondence, keeping records up to date and compliant, performs accounting and clerical tasks, and works directly with CEO and Board Secretary/Treasurer.  She also prepares newsletters for web management and maintaining communication within the organization.

 

Administrator II – Joan Philgence

Joan is a is a natural born leader with administrative and customer  service skills and experience. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in  Linguistics, and a certificate in Counselling, Radio Broadcasting, Information Technology, and Public Speaking.  She works with the CEO/Program Director and COO to help with day-to-day operations, communications, proposals for assistant programs and is part of the Public Relations team. She is responsible for administration, processing, working with the Secretary of the Board to organize fundraising events, meetings and developing member support.

 

 Web Manager - Daniel Bowen     

Daniel is a seasoned professional in the field of photography, holding associate degrees in Cinematography and Film/Video Production. Possessing comprehensive training and substantial experience in stage directing, delivery of music videos to broadcast networks, and adept website management, Daniel assumes the pivotal role of overseeing the I.L.A. website. His responsibilities extend to the creation and development of audiovisual promotional content across diverse platforms, employing both photography and videography as powerful tools for marketing. Daniel is an integral member of the projects and public relations team, contributing significantly to their success.

 

General Advisor and Executive Committee Officer - Dr. June Thornhill

Dr. June Thornhill has over 40 years’ experience in leadership roles and  has Doctorate in Theology (D.D.)  She had previous nursing training and  managed a woman’s non-profit organization. She was also an Assistant Director for Living Springs Academy in Barbados and in the USA, and has experience with youth, community outreach, leadership development programs, homeless outreach and customer service. Dr June is an Advisor on the I.L.A. Executive Committee and will assist with promoting I.L.A.
